Frequently asked
questions
It's completely normal to have questions before getting started. Here you'll find answers to the things people most often ask about how counselling works, what to expect and how I can help.

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's bringing you here, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have. There's no pressure to share everything at once, and we go at your pace. It's also a chance for you to see if I'm the right fit for you.
I work with children from the age of 5, tweens, teenagers, young adults and adults. Sessions are adapted to suit each age group.
Yes. What you share stays between us. There are a small number of exceptions, for example if I'm worried about someone's safety or I'm required by law to share information. I'll explain these clearly at the start, and wherever possible I'd talk to you first. With children and young people, we'll agree together what parents or carers are told.
Yes. I'm a neurodiversity specialist and I work in an affirming way. That means respecting different ways of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world, and adapting sessions to suit you. You don't need a diagnosis to work with me.
Sessions are often weekly, particularly at the start, as it helps to build some continuity. We can talk about what works for you, and that can change over time.
Yes. When I work with children and young people, I'll involve parents and carers in a way that feels right for the young person. I can also offer some guidance on how to support them at home and at school.
Yes. I offer supervision for counsellors, trainees and other helping professionals. You can read more on the supervision page or get in touch to talk it through.
The easiest way is to book a free intro call using the contact form. We'll have a relaxed chat about what you're looking for, and if it feels right, we can arrange a first session.
Please get in touch for current fees and availability. I'm happy to go through this with you during your free intro call.
